Musings and observations of a semi-retired DotA player

I was contemplating on the title for a bit while bumming around the WCG arena waiting for the next round of games to start, and decided to use “Musings and observations of a semi-retired DotA player”.

How’s that for a clichéd heading?

I must say that what I’m commenting here is In My Opinion (IMO) so if you disagree or beg to differ, please do! Hate seeing this being a one sided piece.

Where do I begin? Hmmm… I wonder…

Oh! Lets start with what I saw today, it was kinda interesting to see that Bristle Back (BB)was being drafted in almost every game this year, quite unlike last yeah, when people were still speculating on whether it would work or not. Did the Americans start using BB first? Correct me if I’m wrong kthxbye.

Interestingly to note, many teams seemed to have little incidences of… unusual behaviour. Let me explain how so.

In one of the matches I observed, namely Gachapon (a cash item in the popular game, Maple Story) versus DestinyandFate, players with similar heroes in different games playing against different people will want to comment on what’s going on in the other game, so much so that it ends in their own demise. JiA. from Gachapon for example, was observed wondering when the opponent Zeus in the other game would Wrath, when in actuality, the Zeus in his own game did so, which caused his death.

Another likely candidate for funniest moment thus far would be Gachapon’s DemonKing, using the Sand King and blinking into the opponent’s tower and immediately using Sand Storm, thus enabling the opponent’s Queen of Pain to blink away…

Tofuboi, being the generous soul that he is, gave an early game (around 15 minutes or so?) present in the form of a Reaver to team Spidy’s Pugna, who promptly put it to good use for the rest of the game, even though team Zenith managed to survive what could have been a fatal mistake all because of a courier chicken being killed. Eh, seriously… can you imagine if it happened to you… how hard it would be to fight back from such a big deficit early game?

Tofu not only managed to single handedly turn the tide in favour of the opponents, but he managed to teleport himself onto a meatwagon, thereby trapping himself between the trees in the forest, and the wagon itself. His wonderful team mate, ice came to the rescue with another tp onto the wagon, leaving it permanently stuck there. What I would give to have a team mate like that. =D
